Registration Process:

  1. Submit the Online Audition Registration Form. The form will be available at starting on Thursday, 1/2/20 at 10am.
  2. Sign up for an audition time via Sign Up Genius (link available once registration form is submitted). Auditions will be held in half hour blocks. A maximum of 4 acts can register in each half-hour slot. All acts must be present at the start of their time block on the day of the audition as the Judges will be calling each act into the audition room back-to-back without breaks. Acts that miss their audition call time are not guaranteed a spot and will be worked into the schedule whenever possible.
  3. Submit sheet music for the accompanist (if applicable) to the front desk within 24 hrs. of filling out the registration form.

Please note: Audition time slots are available on a first come, first served basis. The earlier you register; the better chance you have of getting your preferred audition day/time! The Conservatory reserves the right to remove anyone from the audition Sign Up Genius if all forms, payment, and/or sheet music is not submitted in a timely manner.

Audition Requirements:

All students auditioning must be registered for private lessons or a group ensemble (such as the Jazz Performance Program) at The Conservatory as of December 31st, 2019. Students who register after January 1st are not eligible to participate. All ages are welcome to audition!

Repertoire Selection:

There is no theme for the concert and all genres and styles of music are encouraged! The repertoire maximum is 3 pieces, not to exceed a total of 8 minutes. Auditioning with multiple pieces or groups/ensembles does not guarantee a student, or all pieces, will qualify for the concert. Each audition piece is scored individually.

Memorized music is highly encouraged, but not required. Performers who use music must use the original music. No photo copies are permitted per the Kimmel Center.

For students who need an accompanist, Betsy Young will be available for a rehearsal and the audition. Betsy will contact the families to schedule a rehearsal. Families are responsible for covering the rehearsal cost with Betsy. Please be prepared to pay Betsy $15.00 per 15 minutes of rehearsal time (exact cash or check please). Payment is due prior to the start of the rehearsal. The accompanist can use a photo copy of the music for the performance.

 Audition Sign-up Deadline:

-Students requesting an accompanist must register by Saturday, January 18th. Sheet music for the accompanist MUST be turned into the front desk within 24 hrs. of submitting the online registration form! This date is to ensure that we give enough time to Betsy Young to arrange for all rehearsals before the audition. Any requests for an accompanist after this date are not guaranteed.

-Students performing without an accompanist must register by Saturday, February 1st.

Dress Code:

Students auditioning should be dressed in appropriate professional concert attire. No jeans or athletic wear please. Inappropriate dress impacts a student’s audition score.
