In partnership with The Conservatory, the Bucks County Choral Society presents a new community outreach program titled, “Voices of the Future,” a cash prize vocal competition for high school-aged students in Bucks County. Through this program, the Choral Society seeks to kindle a passion for choral music in high school students, foster high standards of musicianship, support professional development of outstanding young singers, and promote choral excellence while inspiring personal development.

VOICES OF THE FUTURE is a classical singing competition for students in grades 10-12 who live or attend school in Bucks County. Prior first place winners are ineligible to re-apply.

Following the first two rounds of the competition, four finalists will be invited to perform in a public master class with acclaimed voice teacher Sharon Sweet. At the conclusion of the master class, $2,500 in cash prizes will be presented: $1,000 for first place and $500 for each of the three runners-up. In addition, the finalist will be invited to appear as a soloist at the Choral Society’s concluding subscription concert in June 2019.

December 3, 2018 - deadline for submission of on-line applications. Each application must include uploaded MP3 recordings of the applicant performing two contrasting classical vocal selections of their choosing. Apply below.

Saturday, January 12, 2019 - Live auditions for selected semi-finalists. All repertoire must be performed from memory. Accompanist will be provided if requested in advance.

February 23, 2019 at 11am, The Conservatory, Doylestown - Four finalists are invited to perform in a master class with Sharon Sweet, renowned opera singer currently teaching voice at Westminster Choir College. First place winner and cash awards for all four finalists will be announced at the conclusion of the class.

June 2, 2019 - The first-place winner is invited to perform as a soloist as part of the Choral Society’s performance of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts with original Ellington soloist DeVonne Gardner.
