The Conservatory’s Piano Certificate Assessment Program is an excellent goal setting program for Piano students to gauge their learning progress.  This is a non-competitive performance evaluation held each spring. It is open to all piano students but it is not a required program.  The assessment program provides 8 levels of evaluation: Preparatory, 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6.  Students perform privately for an adjudicator who will provide written comments and scores from the adjudication. The examination is a Pass/Fail assessment. Students will receive scoring under the following categories: Technical Facility, Rhythmic Accuracy, Dynamics, Tone Quality, Phrasing and Overall.

Students who qualify will receive a certificate of accomplishment and some students may be invited to perform in the Honors Recital.

If you would like to participate please talk with your student’s teacher. Teachers will determine the level appropriate for the student based on the student’s age, years of study and accomplished repertoire.

The certificate program was founded by the following faculty members: Michelle Cosgrove, Stephen Duffy, Olga Smirnova and Valeria Sorokovskaja.  We are grateful for their time and talents.

The Piano Assessment Program has been canceled for this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
