Composers' Virtual Forum: Group Class with Bill Gottshall!
Composers' Virtual Forum
Instructor: Bill Gottshall Mondays, 7-8pm via Zoom Tuition: $30/month Ideal for Students Ages 12—Adult (younger students may be admitted with instructor approval) Have you ever wondered how music composers approach their work? Or how arranging and orchestration relate to composing? Join Bill Gottshall for a virtual class that looks at these questions and offers instruction, encouragement, and inspiration to composers, from beginner to expert. Each class will include a specific topic for discussion, a short period of instruction, and a time of sharing in which student compositions may be presented. Bill and the other members of the forum will offer suggestions and encouragement. This class is a collaborative process between students and instructor. It is expected that all participants will actively work on composing a piece of music, but they may do so at their own pace. The musical style and length of each composition is up to the student. Schedule: This class is ongoing throughout the school year with approximately two class periods per month. Some months will have more than two class dates. Virtual classes are held during the virtual-only weeks in our Hybrid School Year Calendar. Fall Virtual Class Dates: 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 11/23, 12/7, 12/21, 1/11/2021, & 1/25/2021 *February-June dates will be announced when The Conservatory has a school-wide plan in place for those months.* Registration: Students may join the Composers Virtual Forum at any time during the school year, but must commit to a minimum of two months (4 classes) participation.
