Nivison earned degrees in Horn Performance and Music Education from the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam (B.M.), as well as a Masters in Music Education while serving as a Graduate Assistant in Conducting at Mansfield State University of Pennsylvania (M.A.).
He currently serves as the Director of Music in the Eldred (NY) Central School District. His concert bands have earned consistent gold ratings at NY State evaluation festivals. Five years ago, he had the privilege of introducing the very first Advanced Placement course (AP Music Theory) to his school district. Nivison specializes in preparing students for honor band/orchestra opportunities, and especially County, District, Regional, All-State, and College/University auditions. In his spare time, Brian enjoys reading, hiking, waterfalls, visiting family in both the Finger Lakes and Jersey Shore regions, kayaking/tubing on the Delaware River, camping in the Adirondack Mountains, and, most important of all: his wife, two boys, and baby girl.
